First Aid in an Emergency – Dogs & Cats

1. Stay Calm & Call Immediately

Stay calm – your pet can sense your stress.
Call us immediately and briefly describe: species, symptoms, age, possible injuries or poisoning.


2. Stop Bleeding

  • Minor bleeding: Apply pressure with a clean cloth.
  • Heavy bleeding: Apply a pressure bandage and go to a veterinarian immediately.


3. Keep Your Pet Calm

  • Keep movement to a minimum.
  • Do not manipulate injured limbs.
  • Wrap your pet calmly in a blanket or towel.


4. Poisoning

  • Do not induce vomiting!
  • Keep possible toxins (e.g. plants or medications) for identification.
  • Contact a veterinarian immediately.


5. Heatstroke

  • Move your pet into the shade.
  • Cool slowly with water (not ice-cold!).
  • Offer water & call immediately.
