Please call the duty veterinary practice before your visit whenever possible.
1. Stay Calm & Call Immediately
Stay calm – your pet can sense your stress.
Call us immediately and briefly describe: species, symptoms, age, possible injuries or poisoning.
2. Stop Bleeding
- Minor bleeding: Apply pressure with a clean cloth.
- Heavy bleeding: Apply a pressure bandage and go to a veterinarian immediately.
3. Keep Your Pet Calm
- Keep movement to a minimum.
- Do not manipulate injured limbs.
- Wrap your pet calmly in a blanket or towel.
4. Poisoning
- Do not induce vomiting!
- Keep possible toxins (e.g. plants or medications) for identification.
- Contact a veterinarian immediately.
5. Heatstroke
- Move your pet into the shade.
- Cool slowly with water (not ice-cold!).
- Offer water & call immediately.
