Who Needs a Dog Ownership Certificate?
According to Section 11 (3) of the North Rhine-Westphalia Dog Act (LHundG NRW), owners of certain dogs must provide proof of competence.
This applies to dogs that, when fully grown:
- reach a shoulder height of at least 40 cm or
- weigh at least 20 kg
The certificate must be presented to the relevant local authority.
Competence Examination at Our Practice
You can take the required competence examination directly at our practice.
The examination assesses whether you have the necessary knowledge to handle your dog responsibly, including topics such as care, behaviour and safety. The examination is conducted in a calm environment and is straightforward to complete.
