Endoscopy for dogs and cats

Endoscopy – modern diagnostics with minimal stress for your pet

Endoscopy allows a gentle and precise examination of organs and body cavities without the need for major surgical procedures. Using state-of-the-art video endoscopes, mucous membranes, airways, the gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract can be examined directly, while tissue samples can be collected in a targeted manner. In many cases, foreign bodies can also be removed minimally invasively, helping to avoid surgery.

The direct visualisation of affected structures enables fast and reliable diagnosis and forms the basis for targeted treatment. Thanks to the minimally invasive approach, patients benefit from reduced stress, less discomfort and faster recovery.

Gastroscopy

Endoscopic examination of the oesophagus and stomach (gastroscopy) allows assessment of mucosal changes, inflammation, ulcers and tumours. Targeted biopsies can be collected and foreign bodies can often be removed without surgery.

Services:

  • Assessment of the oesophagus, stomach and, in some cases, the beginning of the small intestine
  • Collection of biopsy samples
  • Foreign body removal

Bronchoscopy

Endoscopic examination of the upper airways and lungs is used to investigate coughing, breathing difficulties and chronic lung diseases. The airways can be examined directly and samples can be collected for further diagnostic testing.

Services:

  • Pharyngoscopy
  • Laryngoscopy
  • Assessment of the trachea and bronchi
  • Foreign body removal
  • Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL)

Rhinoscopy

Rhinoscopy allows examination of the nasal cavity and is particularly useful in cases of suspected foreign bodies, chronic nasal discharge or nosebleeds.

Services:

  • Examination of the nasal cavity
  • Diagnosis and removal of foreign bodies
  • Targeted sample collection

Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy allows examination of chronic diarrhoeal diseases, mucosal abnormalities and inflammatory bowel diseases.

Services:

  • Collection of biopsy samples
  • Examination of the colon
  • Assessment of the ileum if required

Cystoscopy

Endoscopic examination of the urinary tract allows detailed assessment of the bladder, urethra and ureters.

Services:

  • Assessment of the urinary bladder
  • Examination of the urethra
  • Visualisation of the ureteral openings
  • Targeted biopsy collection

Modern video endoscopy for precise diagnoses

Our practice uses modern video endoscopy technology.

A camera positioned directly at the tip of the endoscope provides exceptionally clear and detailed images, allowing even very small abnormalities to be detected reliably.

Tissue samples can also be collected during the procedure for further laboratory analysis.

Thanks to the delicate design of the endoscope, the examination can be performed very gently. It is carried out under anaesthesia to ensure your pet remains relaxed and the procedure can be performed safely and accurately.

When is endoscopy recommended?

Endoscopy may be recommended for various conditions, including:

  • Persistent vomiting, diarrhoea or digestive problems
  • Suspected foreign body ingestion
  • Unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms
  • Urination problems or suspected bladder tumours
  • Coughing
  • (Unilateral) nasal discharge

The examination helps identify the underlying cause and allows appropriate treatment to be started.
